Why is Air New Zealand aligned with Virgin Australia?
We have a number of code share arrangements with airlines globally. Working with Virgin Australia connects Air New Zealand's 26 domestic New Zealand destinations with Virgin Australia's 35 domestic Australian destinations, creating the largest ever Australasian network for trans-Tasman travellers, which is a good thing for passengers and good for Air New Zealand!
Here's a map showing the destinations which are on our trans-Tasman network.

Do I have a choice which carrier I fly with?
Yes you do - and if you're booking on either carrier's website, it is very clear if you're going to be travelling on the other carrier.
Where do I go at check-in?
Please go to the check in counter for the carrier that is operating the flight which you are flying. At the moment you are not able to check in for a Virgin Australia flight at an Air New Zealand counter or vice versa.
